ObiBT - what distance can it pair at?

We live in this wood studs and dry wall based house. Obi202 and ObiBT is in the garage. And the phone is somewhere in the house. Sometimes it pairs, other times it does not.

What distance should I expect my phone to pair at?

I use an iPhone 4.
