Which is less complex

Tired of complaining about 500/503 error so - got another question.

Are there less hops, or less complex to set up a DID to dial 13503453939@myhome.com (is this called SIP URI calling?) instead of registering the DID to one of the SP accounts on the OBI?

I have it working either way; but interested in the least complex to help eliminate downtime.
