How to get my landline phone calls to obi202

Hi All,
1) I got the latest obi202
Setup a NEW Google voice number and it works for incoming
and outgoing call.

2) Since my Google number is new so no body knows it.
I did not transfer my existing land line number to Google number to
get the 911 calling facility. I could not convince my wife that
other 911 service will be cheaper than At&T and will work as good
as AT&T.

3) So I planned to keep my old land line number as it is.
4) Now I want to get the land line phone calls to my
obi202 system. Currently I have 2 phone systems, one connected
to land line, which I am using to receive calls, and using the
obi202 phone system, to make out bound calls.
I want to use only one phone system, which is connected to obi202.

5) Call forwarding at AT&T costs $7 a month, do not want to go that
route.

6) obi202 has 2 phone connectors, one I used to connect the
base phone of my wireless phone system.
This uses the new Google number to get and send call.

7) On the other obi202 phone connector can I connect the land line
and receive the calls, meant for the land line number?
Not the new Google voice number.

8. If not how do I do it?

9) Read in the forum that obi110 supports bridging PSTN to
obi110. Do I have to get obi110 also?
In that case, can I chain, these 2 by connecting obi110's phone port to to obi202's phone port?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

The Obi202 or Obi100 does not support a land line. The only way to connect to a land line would be to use the Obi110.

Definitely not! It could damage both devices.

It is possible to have both OBi devices behind the same router and have them forward calls to each other. That does seem a bit over complicated and may be not as secure a system as needed for 911.

Maybe you only need an OBi110 - two service providers and PSTN?

There is one other option. You could purchase and use a 2 line phone. But they can be a little pricey especially if you need or want cordless. As the other writer noted, you probably really wanted the 110 but hindsight is always better than foresight.

Hi Ianobi,

I like the FAX support of obi202, so I bought that.
Is there are way to use FAX support with obi110?

Could you please explain the router scenario more.
Like why it is not secure for 911 calls.
and how to forward calls to each other.

Thanks

Some users report that faxing is possible with OBi110 using codec G711 and keeping the fax speeds slow, but most think it's unreliable at best.

Using an OBi202 and OBi110 behind the same router needs some thought. Physically you just plug both into separate router ports and add both devices to your account. Then you have to decide what you wish to happen - you have a total of 3 phone ports, 6 service providers and a PSTN line. Do you want all services to call all phones? All phones to access all services? Lots of questions!

This post may give you an idea of what is involved, although in this case the two OBIs were in different locations:

The basic idea is that you forward calls between the two OBi devices using the OBiTALK network. This would mean that dialling 911 from the OBi202 would have to go via the OBiTALK network to get to the OBi110 and out to PSTN.

Noted on the 911, but RonR did help me set up forking from an Obi110 to an Obi202, which is very simple (except for the AA which is solved by putting on different accounts).
