Hello, I am using (nearly successfully) the guide provided below to make and receive calls on an IP phone:

http://blog.obihai.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

I can make calls as anticipated however after a successful registration I am unable to receive calls.  It seems that the underscore used in the host name "local_client" (per the documentation) is not valid therefore the phone cannot ring.

OBi202 with 3.0.1 (Build: 3585)

Call 1   12/19/2012    15:44:41

15:44:41   From GT1(12223334444)   To SP2(1@local_client)
15:44:41   Call Ended (400 Bad Request (INVITE sip:1@local_client SIP/2.0Illegal character in hostname:_ ()

This is the only reason I purchased the OBi device and hope to be able to use it or I will need to send it back to Amazon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi mikeatroundhere,
Welcome to the forum.

Which IP phone are you using?
I'm trying to do the same thing as you but I couldn't get it to connect using the Proxy Address that they wrote:

-          EXT 1/Proxy = 500111345.pnn.obihai.com:5061
How are you formatting it?

I'm not sure if your problem is for incoming calls, if that is an issue, you're better off just putting the local IP of your phone after the @ and port number.
For example: 1@192.168.1.5:5063

I can't get my Snom320 to register, I've had to put the username @ local IP and port number for the Proxy on the Snom.

mikeatroundhere,

Thank you for reporting the issue.
We have confirmed the problem with the illegal underscore (_) character in the hostname. We will provide a fix. Meanwhile you can replace the rule SP2(1@local_client) with the IP address of the phone, such as SP2(1@192.168.15.123). If the phone is not listening at port 5060, you must add the port number to the rule also, such as SP2(1@192.168.15.123:5068).

If you like to try out our fix, please send an email to support@obihai.com and refer to this topic, and provide us your OBi number. We can push a test f/w with the fix to your unit.

Thank you.

I'm using the same build as Mike and it is working fine for me on incoming.

My problem is the IP phone is not registering with the Obi202's Proxy, any fix for that?

Sorry folks, I didn't realize that I hadn't enabled notification on replies for this forum/thread.

I had temporarily moved to CSipSimple and will be switching back to the native SIP client once I receive a reply from support with the firmware.

mrjoe, as for registering other phones...  I have spent a lot of time looking through debug logs and such to find odd issues, workarounds and such to make things play well together...
