How to configure access to Google Voicemail via connected handset

Gang,

I have scoured the interwebs tonight looking for a way to access Google Voicemail on my Obi100 via the connected handsets, and for the life of me, I can't find a solution anywhere.

I configured the ATA via the Obitalk.com website.  I have two Google voice accounts configured, and can dial outbound successfully from each one.

Whenever I try to dial the "home number" to access voicemail, I just get a fast busy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks much!

Dial **9 2222222222

That is an OBi test number. Do you get through to the test where it echos you voice back?

You may have a router settings problem. Consider hooking your OBi directly to your modem as a test. If that works, the problem involves the router.

Search on this site for your router's model number. Look for prior discussions on that.

Rick:
I don't know how that translates into a router settings problem.  I suspect the problem is that the OP is dialing the wrong number.

What do you mean by "home number"?  Your OBi 100 is connected to Google Voice.  The device knows no number, GTalk merely forwards calls to the OBi, and lets you call out.

As a test, from your cellphone call the number you think is your "home number".  Since you have an OBi 100 (not a 110), if the phone connected to the 100 rings then you've found the right number.  Now, dial that number from the phone connected the OBi.  If you get a fast busy, but the phone connected to the OBi 100 dials your cellphone fine, post back.  Make sure you're dialing the entire number, with area code (to bypass any rules that you haven't setup to add an area code to a 7 digit number).

Rick,

This is correct.  When I dial the Google Voice number (home number) from my cell phone, I can press * and access the Google Voicemail.  If I then dial that same number from the phone connected to the Obi100 (including the 1) I get a fast busy.

Ok, so I said to test a few things and you replied with 1 answer...

Call your house number from the cell.  Does the phone ring?

If yes, we know the OBi is connected properly to GV.  Now, use the OBi phone to call your cell phone.  If it rings, we know you can make calls both ways.

If yes to both, using the house phone, dial the GV number with a 1, without a 1, and without the area code.

If none of those work, preface the number with **1 (or **2 if your GV line is on SP2).
