Google voice problems - can't get incoming calls
phonebob:
I have an OBi100 set up with google voice. It's been set up and was working for about a week (with little use other than my testing). Today I missed a call and received a voice mail, as I should. I listened to the message and marked it as "read" (the closest choice to deletion) through the phone attached to the OBi. The message waiting light and stutter dial tone remained on. After searching this forum, I deleted the message through GV online, and then deleted trash and spam. After this changed nothing, I rebooted the OBi100.
When it rebooted the stutter tone and message waiting light were off. But now the phone does not receive incoming calls, and does not give a stutter dial tone or message waiting light when I leave new voice mails. It does give a regular dial tone, and allows outgoing calls or access to voice mail. I even get a dial tone while an incoming call is calling that GV number.
My GV is set to forward calls to Google Chat. I have tried un-checking and re-checking that forwarding setting, and rebooting the OBi100, with no effect. I can forward my GV calls to other numbers with no problem. I have also tried deleting the SP1 configuration on the OBi and configuring it again - no change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It takes 30 - 60 minutes for the indicator and stutter tone to go away. If you had done nothing after deleting the message and simply waited, you would likely be all set.
The regular dial tone is provided by the OBi, NOT by GV. Since you aren't receiving calls, it's not a surprise that you get a dial tone while a call is coming in.
I would suggest a factory reset of the OBi, and then re-setup your GV. Then, in the future, delete the voicemail and wait an hour.

I tried two factory resets, with the same result. Then I tried a different google account, and it worked.
The problem with the GV account that wouldn't work seems to be that I originally created it with a non-gmail email address. In order to configure it with Obi, I added a gmail address to the account, and this became the primary email address for the account. However, I see under Settings->Phones for that account google chat is listed with my non-gmail address. Is there any way to convert that google chat to my gmail address?
Thanks for the info on the long delay for the stutter tone and message light. I'm still waiting to see if it goes out on it's own. I assume the delay is from google. There really ought to be a way to fix that.

Phonebob, did you sign-in to Gmail at: www.gmail.com and place a call from your computer's browser with the Gmail "Call Phone" function located on the lower left side of the Gmail window?
