Recieved 100 today.  configured google voice per instructions.  (note in my google voice there is no option for forward to chat).  I also have placed calls from my gmail account.  I am able to make calls from my home phone, but I dont believe they are going through googlevoice.  Also anytime someone calls my google voice number, my home # does not ring.  In my google voice settings, if I have forward calls to mobile, then my mobile rings, but not the cordless home phone.  If I don't have that option checked, calls go straight to voicemail.  the my cordless home phone still does not ring. but they do show as missed calls in my google voice account. what am I missing here.  I followed all instructions, again except I did not have the forward to chat option in my googlevoice.

lisa,

Hi

Verify the connection status of your GV in the Status>System status page. It should say Connected.

again except I did not have the forward to chat option in my googlevoice

this option will appear in google voice once a call is made from within the gmail account

both the google voice acccount and the gmail account must be for the same Google Account log in credentials

see this document from Obihai for set up with google voice

thanks both of you.  the status does show connected.  but i guess i now have a real dilema. i had to setup a gmail account separate from my main google account (where the googlevoice is connected) because that main account is a non gmail account that I have used for years.  this was not made clear in the instructions.  it only said to create a gmail account if you didnt have one and place a call.  looks like this has made everything more complicated.   :-\  are others reassociating the google voice account to their gmail account somehow?  or any suggestion on how to resolve?

you have 3 options

1 - set up another gmail address that is associated with your google voice number
see part 2 of my guide
http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=62.msg716#msg716

2- get another google voice number associated with your new gmail account
from within gmail, at the top click 'more" > "even more" > voice
once at google voice choose the upgrade option on the left

3 - use this form to get google to move your google voice number to the same account as your gmail
this option takes 2 weeks to complete
