Number substitution to create a 'short code'

(1/1)

Midshires:
I'm still grappling with DigitMaps and apologise if this question has been asked and answered previously.

Is there a way of writing the DigitMap to create a 'short code'?

In other words if I dial (let's say) 8081, the OBI device 'interprets' this and actually calls the OBItalk number 300 123 456 (number chosen at random, for example only).

Many thanks!
Andy.

ianobi:
Simple number substitution is quite simple in OBi digit maps. From your example:

<8081:300123456>

If you look at the Phone Port OutboundCallRoute there are examples such as:

{(<**1:>(Msp1)):sp1}

If you dialled **112345678912, then this <**1:> replaces the **1 on the left of the colon with the nothing on the right of the colon, so the number becomes 12345678912 and is then sent out using sp1.

RFord:
You could use the available speed dial slots, 3-99 to essentially accomplish the same thing, without messing with OBi digit maps.  You would enter all the numbers in the speed dial list and simply enter X#  or XX# (or X or XX and wait for the call to go out).  I think the first 1 or 2 speed dial slots are reserved for other things, so I would use 3-99.

Midshires:
Most grateful to both of you. I'm relieved that it's so simple!

Cheers guys,
Andy.
