Porting in limbo -- should I be patient?

(1/2) > >>

Fangio:
I've (mostly) ported my old landline number into a prepaid Tmobile phone, but calling the number still rings my old landline phone (and doesn't ring the Tmo phone) after about 30 hours since a text message said the port was complete.

Calling out from the Tmo prepaid phone works correctly, showing my landline number on the caller ID of the receiving phone. And texting is working on the phone.

What do you think? Is it safe to start the port from Tmo to Google Voice, or do I risk breaking something if I don't wait until the Tmo phone begins to take incoming calls from my old number?

I'd like to get going and finish this whole process, but i'm afraid I'll end up in a scenario where it finishes porting to GV and still won't receive calls.

Thanks!

carl:
You have  to wait until the port is complete. If it takes more than a couple of days you should contact TMO.

Fangio:
Thanks, Carl.

Fangio:
The good news: The port is complete. The TMO phone now receives calls to my old landline number.

The bad news: Google Voice says I can't port the number because it's "from an area we don't currently support for porting." Off to scour the forum for ideas about what to do next ...

carl:
you may try a port to another provider. Localphone has US DID's for 0.99c/month unlimited incoming, but you have to check with them whether your number can be ported. You can also check out Callcentric, Voip.ms and Anveo.
