Share em here. ;)

Seems like it would be nice to have this all in one thread. I keep hearing of new things people post in different threads.

Like various tweaks to get proper Caller ID support? I recall someone suggesting this: https://simonics.com/gvgw/ I believe there is other tweaks to do this too.

Is there any hacks to use different Codecs? Like I know Talkatone for iOS and Android will connect to Talkatone servers and offer a smaller and better compressed codec as an example.

Maybe Hangouts will offer a lot of these features if they offer a API for Obi to use: http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=6808.msg43015#msg43015

I know for 911 the best option seems to be Anveo? Right?

What ways do you combat Spam callers?

Just thought it would be good to share with other Obi users who also use G-Voice. :) So post whatca know.  :P

Any neat Google Voice sites that share stuff like this? I know the Official Google Voice Forums: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!categories/voice

My clear winner for favorite hack is using CellCentric to get CNAM and 911/e911 (and 933 read back address check).

Second best, enabled by implementing the above, is using GV's audio Caller ID and LisentIn on home phones (important point, if you do not do the above you will never get this feature for calls received via the Obi) for people I don't necessarily want to talk to.  For these people, create a group 'Bad People' (or whatever) and set Call Screening to on.

Next is forcing call screening for unknown or private calls. Since you can do this on any other forwarding phone number, the hack part is being able to do this on incoming calls received via the Obi to your home phone.

Since you called this hacks and not 'regular features', using GV's ability to 'block' telemarketing calls, and have GV play the 'this line is disconnected or not in service tones and announcement'  doesn't count, bit it's a powerful thing.

lhm.

http://smart911.com if it is available in your area is a great tool/asset. However it cannot be used with Anveo or Callcentric as they both send a temporary call back # (CID). You can use a service such as http://gv911.com for $12 per year that works well with smart911.com
