OBI202 with wifi- an extended internet port?

Greetings- Is it possible to use the Obi202's lan port to hardwire another device (like DirecTV or Xbox) to the internet wirelessly? If so, I'm not sure what settings to use. Thank you

Not that this directly answers your question, but in case the answer is no, or if you haven't purchased the WiFi adapter yet, there's another (better) solution to your problem.

Pick up a cheap router like this awesome $20 one: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_1046_365&item_id=034287

Flash the router with Gargoyle: http://www.gargoyle-router.com/

Voila, instant wireless repeater! That router has awesome antennas so the range is great. Especially after flashing, the power levels are boosted too.

What that router will now do is hop on your wireless network, bridge all FIVE network ports to it to give you hard wired connections (plug one of them into the network jack on the Obi), as well as repeat the wireless signal for improved signal around this router.

Cheaper and better than the Obi WiFi adapter (if you're not looking to travel with it I guess).

Can you recommend a comparable router with removeable antennas. I want to use a couple with biquad antenna to distribute wifi 400 foot.

This was previously discussed and I believe the consensus we came to was no for the Obi202.  There have been changes to the firmware since then.

It's difficult to recommend a router specifically because there are so many options.  I recommend you find the hardware you like and then check its compatibility with DD WRT.  I only buy DD WRT compatible routers now because they are so versatile. If you need something special you can upgrade it with new features.  It makes them more future proof.

I personally love my ASUS RT-N16.  It has 3 detachable antennas and is DD WRT compatible.  I believe it can do what you want even without a firmware upgrade.
