Ring phone on registration fail
FreeWillie:
For those of us with marginal internet, ringing the phone with a selectable ring pattern would alert the user to the phone line being down (registration fail).

For build 3397 I noticed this new field under Physical Interfaces > Phone Port X: ToneOnPrimaryServiceDown
Admin manual says: Select the tone to play in place dial tone when the service corresponding to the Primary Line is out-of-service. Choose from:
- No Tone
- Normal Dial Tone
- SIT Tone 1
- SIT Tone 2
- SIT Tone 3
- SIT Tone 4
Edit: Doesn't seem to be available on the OBi1xx models

Thanks, but... that's just a tone (in lieu of dial tone) after I pick up the phone; I am talking about a ring that would come on when service is down. That way I could tell immediately that I do not have phone service without having to pick up the "receiver".

So when the service is down this ring would be continuous until service was restored?
QBZappy:
@FreeWillie
Yeah, I agree that could be useful if done directly on the phone. This sounds like a feature request.

The next best thing is have your computer ring you or send yourself an email when the internet is down. There are some free apps that can run an app to make a sound on your computer/send you an SMS (whatever) and/or send emails. Not really the best solution.
