Route PSTN to LAN soft phone

I would like to place and receive calls via GV or PSTN with a soft phone on my Macintosh.

I realize that this would be easier to set up with Obiapp, but there is no OSX version.

Is this possible? I am pretty technical, but I find myself overwhelmed and perplexed with the configuration options for telephone.
