Stumbled onto this product when searching for VoIP options.  Looks very promising.  But is there a way to use this to call overseas for cheap from a cordless phone connected to the OBi1100?  Thanks.

A cordless telephone works fine with the base unit plugged into the OBi.

Google Voice as well as many VoIP providers offer extremely low-cost calling rates to foreign countries.

If you have a GV account installed on your OBi device, you are able to make US/CAN calls for free this year.

For other country phone calls, if you do not mind to listen an advertising for several seconds, you may consider to make international calls for 10 minutes to the access numbers shown in the following link.

This may sound stupid.  But could you expand on how I tie GV and the VoIP provider of my choice together for the international call to go through?  Thank you.

If you set up a Google Voice account and/or a VoIP provider on your OBi, it will be just like dialing on a landline service:

7, 10, or 11 digits will be US/Canada calling.  It will be a free call through Google Voice and may or may not be billable through your VoIP provider or your landline depending on the plan you have with them.

011 + country code + number will be an international call and will be billed at the rate Google Voice, your VoIP provider, or your landline telephone company charges.  Either your landline, Google Voice, or your VoIP provider can be set as your default provider and you can use one of the others instead by prefixing the number with **1, **2, or **8 as appropriate.
