Can't place outgoing calls with Vestalink--SOLVED

(1/1)

glenviewjeff:
I signed up for the Vestalink trial and manually added Vestalink on SP2 of my OBi202 using these instructions: https://intelafone.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1382461-obi-configuration

I was able to receive a call fine, but if I try to place a call I get the following error:  The number you dialed, was rejected by the service provider reason 400

OBi Dashboard status shows registered for SP2, and of course SP2 is the primary line for outgoing calls.

I also tried modifying the server ports from 5060 to 8891 per this support article, but still get the error.  https://intelafone.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1425037-fixing-the-obihai-adapter-%22error-400%22

Update: The problem must have been due to my router blocking something important--it worked fine with Google Voice, but not Anveo or Vestalink.  When I moved my OBi between the modem and router, it fixed the problem.

What area code are you dialing?

glenviewjeff:
I tried several.. 847, 224, 408...

One odd thing that happened to me was this. I setup for a trial of the service but also could not make any outbound calls. By chance I looked in my call history on the web page and saw a call was made to or from someone I didn't know and the date of the call was before I activated my trial. This call was over one hour long.

I contacted support, and they also suggested port changes, but this didn't help. Then I mentioned this mystery call. When they removed it from my call history I could make outgoing calls.

Check your call history. Perhaps something in there took you past 60 minutes.

I don't remember if I got the same error message you got or just a busy signal.

Thanks for the pointer; though in this case it must have been a problem with my wireless router, which I had in front of my OBi.  I moved it between my modem and router, and now it's working just fine.
