I bought a second independent line from Vestalink after a successful trial of one line. When I try to configure it on my OBI 202 I get "Register Failed: 401 Unauthorized" I'm using the SIP credentials Vestalink provides and they confirm them. They also suggested trying a different proxy port for the second line (8891) which made no difference (do I have to do something wiith that port on my router). They now say - not us, talk to obi(!)
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Bill
Let me throw out the suggestion that if you used the easy setup configuration tool through your Vestalink portal you will not be able provision SP's separately. Maybe you need to start over again by completely deleting your OBi from OBiTALK and then reinstall it and reset your device to factory ***81 and then either manually enter each number or run the easy tool, which should install both numbers this time around, assuming the problem is that you originally ran the tool and didn't manually setup the first number.
PaulR:
Major news, folks: Obitalk has gotten their Vestalink template working with the Obi202. No more manual configuration! So, here are the simple steps to set up SP1 and SP2 as two separate phone numbers on your Obi202, using Vestalink and the Obitalk portal:
1. Create two Vestalink accounts, one for each phone number to be used with the Obi202. (Ignore Vestalink's OBi Easy Setup Tool, which just mirrors the same phone number on SP1 and SP2.)
2. Log into obitalk.com and delete all SPs (SP1, SP2, etc) from the Obi202.
3. Do a factory reset on the Obi202 by dialing ***81 from a connected phone.
4. Find Obitalk's list of compatible service providers. When the E911 warning dialog appears, click the Accept button.
5. In the list of compatible service providers, click on Vestalink.
6. Select Phone 1, and deselect Phone 2, for all 3 choices (outgoing calls, incoming calls, and voicemail).
7. Select the E911 checkbox.
8. Copy the SIP credentials from your first Vestalink account to the remaining boxes. (Vestalink/Devices/Softphone/BYOD/Vestalink Sip Credentials.)
9. Click Submit.
10. Click on SP2 and repeat steps 4-9 above, selecting Phone 2 and deselecting Phone 1, and enter the SIP credentials from your second Vestalink account.
11. Go to the Obi dashboard. The status of your two phone numbers should be displayed as Registered.
12. Make test calls to confirm everything is working.
This new Obitalk template for two Vestalink numbers on the Obi202 works great. Caller ID, voicemail, E911 setup, everything works correctly for two separate lines.
By the way, forwarding numbers from Google Voice to a voip provider doubles the latency, I have found. It is better to port GV numbers to Vestalink, if they can be ported (http://www.vestalink.com/numberchecker.php). If a number currently cannot be ported, you can get a new GV number and port that, and forward the old GV number until it can be ported or is no longer needed.
