Obi110 - Technicolor Gatway - TG582n V 8.4

Dear Forum Members,
I have possibly tried each and every solution available via a google search to get this working. Our "wonderful" service provider has recently moved to Technicolor Gateway (Thomson/Speedtouch) wireless modem and I simply can't get the Obi110 to register with any VOIP provider. I have tried using obi110 at a friends house (using another provider) and was able to register the VoIP but no luck with having it worked with my gateway... Please allow me to explain the different things I tried:
1. Configured Port Fordwarding - UDP - Ports 5000-5500 and Ports 10000-20000 - No luck
2. Downloaded the TG582n CLI reference to disable the SIP ALG using the command: connection unbind application=SIP port=5060. No Luck
3. Created a NAT rule basically forwarding the outside address 0.0.0.1 for all ports to the obi110's ip address. No Luck
4. Tried enabling the connection - that is - using connection bind application=SIP port=5060 but configured the application using connection appconfig application=SIP disabling snooping and translate-predict. Please note that I have tried all different permutations with no luck...
I would rather not change my provider since they are offering the highest speeds but there has to be a way around this. The only other explanation would be that the provider in their limitless wisdom decided to block sip traffic or ports --- if this is the case any workaround like using a proxy or using a different port on the VOIP provider side.
Thank you
Nitin

I had this gateway for a few weeks before I returned it after purchasing a Motorola Surfboard. I did not want to pay rental fee ad nausea since I was not using the telephone ports. I had no issues with two Obi110 plugged in.
The cable providers have total control over the operation of their modems. You may be better served by purchasing your own device if possible.
