How to get GV number as Caller ID

JOEDAVID:
Hi,

I have been using Obi100 for two years now with GV connected to it. From May 15th GV is not going to be connected to obi100 hence bought powerPhone package. It is working fine, but I would like to get GV number as outgoing caller ID. I get the new powerPhone's number? I don't want to port GV number to powerPhone.

Is it possible to GV number as an outgoing caller id without the change of port to powerPhone.

Let me know!

Thanks!

Unfortunately, you may be out of luck. You were given the opportunity to enter a phone number to be spoofed on outgoing calls when you signed up for PhonePower thru the Obihai web portal. I haven't heard of anyone successfully getting their outbound CID changed after signup. I don't understand PhonePower's position on this issue but that's the way it currently stands AFAIK. You can try sending an email (or call or use chat) to request they change your outgoing CID but I wouldn't hold my breath. Please post back here if you are successful.

Note: I think you get 30 days to cancel without charge. If it's that important to you and PP support won't cooperate you could always cancel your current account and sign up again thru the Obi portal making sure to enter your GV number this time.

That won't show up on a lot of phones.  Especially cell phones.  I think someone said you can get it switched if you get lucky and find the right support person.

Hello Taoman and giqcass!  I posted a related update on this thread. I investigated the issue.

According to PhonePower if you want your GV number as your CID you should do it at sign up. You can't change it yourself afterwards but they confirmed that they CAN change it for you after the fact, though it's more by "exception" because they don't get this type of requests often. I made sure they weren't thinking I was asking how to have the number ported, just change the CID and they reconfirmed. They are accommodating Obi users migrating from GV so I was told you just need to contact technical support and they would do it for you.

If it really works let us all know!
