OBI(100) - don't waste your time with VOIPO.com

(1/1)

LAMATL:
I wasted three days trying to get VOIPO to work. Unable to register (mostly "server not responding" errors, but others as well) and once I managed to connect to a second "test" account they created, I was only able to make calls. Received calls would only generate a busy signal. Yet another issue was that caller ID was not automatically included when outbound dialing (the workaround was to put my phone number in the URI field, but THAT may have been one factor in having trouble with registration). Long story short, VOIPO officially does not support OBI (or any other third-party devices). I wouldn't care about that if the service worked, but it doesn't. They insisted (incorrectly!) that my OBI device was at fault. I have since connected it to a new google voice number (after, sadly, transferring my old gvoice number to voipo) and just now, in less than three minutes, registered successfully with another provider (phonepower.com). The plan I chose costs $34.99 per year including 911 (and 300 minutes outbound, $0.01 per add'l minute thereafter). Caller ID works, phone works (inbound and outbound). In retrospect, trying to work with VOIPO was a colossal waste of time.  :'(  IMHO, of course.

What PhonePower plan do you have? The "line cloning feature" is not an available option with the "Obi" plans.......at the least the "Obi" lite plan.

vaggarwa:
Actually it is.  They recently changed their policy but haven't updated the site.

If you call them they will confirm over phone.

That's another thing....u can call them and speak to a human being...
