I don't mean to hijack the thread, but getting back to the original question about trunk rollover when using Asterisk and a trunk group, I recently put together a "plain vanilla" Asterisk server and connected my obi to it as an experiment to fix another issue I had with the Obi. After about 3 weeks of testing I discovered several things in relation to using the Obi with Asterisk. I'm running the latest current version 11.6 of Asterisk. Back to the Obi registration on the Asterisk. After a whole lot of trying things I've come to the conclusion that the Asterisk is "brain dead" as far as registration by the Obi if you are not using DHCP to serve an IP address to the Obi. I suspect this may be because Asterisk tries to look up the current address in DNS and there is nothing there. Only speculation on my part. Now, if you want to use X_NoRegNoCall to facilitate a speedy trunk rollover it can't be done. Also, I noticed in a post above that someone was quizzing the use of gateways in a trunk group. I also found out that if your trunk group is "sp1,sp2,vg1" the Obi will report "no service provider" if sp2 fails regardless of the setting of x_NoRegNoCall. I assume the same reasoning as ianobi. VG1 is only outbound and Obi does not track anything about it so it quits.
