I believe a companion app is needed on mobile devices to allow reliable incoming calls.  It would be a simple framework to keep the session alive with updated network information.  I don't think it's needed for outgoing calling on many recent devices.

From the beginning mobile connection to my Obi has been my biggest problem.  In it's current form it's not at all reliable so I was forced to use third party means to connect to it.  While the work around is viable, why should I settle for it when Obihai could easily update the apps and make them work with recent updates to Android or IOS.

The other issue, having an old app like they do now which they allow to connect to the Obitalk network probably is a security risk.  And it could be a security risk to all Obitalk users.
