GoogleVoice OAUTH 2.0 authentication via the Web interface

Some user experiences re 2-step authentication. Setting up GV looks possible without having to go thru obitalk. Key seems to be to set up:

"application specific password" in the security settings for the Google account, and that code is what I entered as the password in the OBI

SteveInWA:
Those idiot hackers are just using downlevel OBi firmware and a user name and password to circumvent OAUTH 2.0 authentication.

Note that creating an application specific password is no different from a security standpoint than sticking your regular user name and password on Obihai's website.  It is not using secure access token technology.

Is it possible?  Apparently.  Is it approved by Google and Obihai? No.  Is it going to be around for much longer?  Who knows.  This is the access method that Google told the third parties to stop using.

I tried that and the application specific password method did not work for me. Note that the forum post linked is NOT for the most recent firmware release.

OE, Got it working per your instructions and since I do have a Google number, I added it and now have incoming too. Appreciate the clear instructions even an old network-tyro could follow. I'm on build 4350.[/bquote]

Good to know!  I've bumped the supported firmware to your Build 4350, the last build Obihai has posted on their forum before announcing their return to GV. (Bold added)
