The Cisco SPA508G is used in the example. Of course I have to recommend the Obi1032(more expensive) if you want maximum compatibility and ease of setup. To my knowledge there is no approved list but most IP phones should work.

If you buy OBi 132 IP phones, then you do not need a OBi 202. Each OBi IP phone has the same functions as the 202, without the analog portion.
The cordless VoIP phones are designed to work standalone (that is, they don't work with Obihai products). I have a Gigaset C610A IP phone system and I highly recommend it. It uses DECT 6.0 for communication between the base station and the handsets.
You can also buy a good quality DECT 6.0 cordless headset to use with your IP phone if you want to walk around and talk. This is what most office phone users do. I use the Jabra PRO 9470 model.
