Hello,

I'm troubleshooting a friend's OBI 110. It is configured with Google Voice and has been working fine.

It just started failing.

Inbound calls are met with two rings and then "Please enter remote access code".

I've disconnected the telephone handset/answering machine and the results are the same.

I'm not even sure this is not a GoogleVoice issue but I was not sure where to begin.

TIA!
Adam.

My first guess would be that it is a code to remotely access and listen to answering machine messages while out of the house.

A Google for that phrase turned up many answering machine results.

I would make sure that your friend didn't leave any old forwarding numbers in his Google Voice account.  I did it once myself.  At first there were no issues because there was no one to answer the disconnected phone.  Eventually the number got recycled however and I started getting reports of someone else picking up my phone.
Long live our new ObiLords!

BINGO!

Thank you very much for responding and solving the problem.

Adam.

Thank you for responding. It was a dead forward number left in the GV account.
