Setting up Obi202 to work with Google Voice and 2 lines with PhonePower

I figure I would start a new topic instead of adding to my other thread of "flashing green light" as this is a different issue.

When I initially set up my Obi202 and registered it I had decided to put it on SP1. I then added 2 VOIP service lines with PhonePower on SP2 and SP3. Is Phone 1 and Phone 2 linked to SP1 and SP2 respectively?

If so I am thinking it would be better to change Google Voice to go on SP3 and move the other 2 lines to SP1 and SP2 so I can stick the phone cable for the Base Phone for the first line and the phone cable for the second line in the other line on the Obi202.

Any and all answers appreciated.

Thanks.

no need to move stuff around.  You can change the setup to ring which ever phone(s) you want from whatever sp(s) you want.

Configuration Name
Primary Line for Outgoing CallsPhone 1Phone 2
Incoming Calls Will Ring OnPhone 1Phone 2

on each SP and set as appropriate.

I have mine set for GV1 (mine) as the default out for Ph2, and rings on ALL sp's (GV1, GV2, Vitelity, Asterisk),

On GV3 the default out for ph2, and rings on ALL sps.

Does that help?

Hi Iroseman,

Thank you for your response.

I followed you perfectly up to your second paragraph. I did not follow you so well thereafter.

Where and how would I do what you say?

Thanks.

:)

lrosenman

under each SP on the portal, in the configuration screen, there are 2 rows:
1) primary line for outgoing calls
2) incoming calls will ring on (which ph's)

set each SP up  the default for which ever phone port you wish as the outgoing
and set up which ph's each should ring.

You can have MULTIPLE SP's ring each phone port.  (and the ring patterns can be adjusted in expert).

Does that help?

MParente

Thank you for that Iroseman.

Ok ... I can see where this needs to be changed. I'm not sure about the fine details as you mention.

Do you know of any documentation or a resource that goes into great detail on how all this works on the Obi202?

Thanks again.

:)

lrosenman

there is an admin guide in the files section of the portal, but it is VERY detailed.

What is your desired setup?

Ph1 rings for which SP(s)
ph2 rings for which SP(s)

Default outgoing SP for ph1?
Default outgoing SP for ph2?

Well I want to be able to plug in my Home Phone Line Base Uniden Phone with all the handsets around the house to Phone Jack 1 of the Obi202, and I want to set up the Second Line with my Panasonic Base phone and 1 handset on the main floor of the house on Phone which I will have on Phone Jack 2 of the Obi202. These lines will be provided by  Phone Power as soon as my MagicJack numbers are ported over.

I want Line 1 to be able to call out and receive calls.

I want Line 2 to be able to call out and receive calls.

Obviously they will be 2 totally different local numbers.

As for Google Voice I would probably like to be able to phone in and out on Line 3. Just not sure how I would physically attach to it through the Obi202.

Did I explain it in enough detail to make sense?

Thanks.

:)

Ok, so google voice is SP1
Phonepower #1 is SP2
Phonepower #2 is SP3

set SP2 to ring PH1, and be the default outbound for PH1 (phone line 1)
set SP3 to ring PH2, and be the default outbound for PH2 (Phone line 2)

If you want GoogleVoice to ring either phone, set that as "rings".

To call out on Google Voice from either phone port hit **1 and then the number.

If you are on PH1 and want to call out on SP3, dial **3 and the number
if you are on PH2 and want to call out on SP2, dial **2 and the number.

Does that make sense now?

The beginning I think is straight forward or relatively straight forward.

Starting at "To call out on Google Voice from either phone port hit **1 and then the number. " Do you mean the destination number I want to dial to or the local 10 digit local number I am to dial out of?

The last 2 lines ... after **3 and **2 is that the destination phone number I want to call?

Thanks.

:)

lrosenman

Yes, the destination number you want to call.

**[n] means use SP[n] for this call.

So to call 505-555-1212 using google voice: **1 505 555 1212
using PhonePower1(SP2): **2 505 555 1212
Using PhonePower2(SP3): **3 505 555 1212

Ok, thank you Irosenman.

I theoretically understand everything you said.

When the lines are up from PhonePower I will implement how you suggested.

I appreciate your help.
