I'm pretty baffled by the call waiting behavior - I can flip to second call, but cannot return to first.

I am using Vestalink as primary in/out. It is configured on SP4.
Google Voice is involved with incoming calls - people do not know my Vestalink number, all my incoming calls come thru GV to Vestalink phone.
Google Voice or Talk is configured on SP1, but it is not selected as primary.

  • I am in a conversation and get a second call.
  • I flash the hook and talk to second caller.
  • After 20 seconds or so, I attempt to return to first call. Flash hook and I just get silence.
  • Must call them back.
  • During the hold time the first caller tells me that they heard music!
In advanced settings I see that CallWaitingEnable is true and also HookFlashHandling is local.

So my questions are:
Why can I not return to first call?
Where does the hold music come from?
Does this problem possibly originate with Vestalink or Google Voice?
What other advanced settings should I look at?
How do I view my Obi 202 logs and is there anything useful there?

Thanks so much for your help.

I have a similar problem except that when I return to the original call the caller cannot hear me but I can hear them. I was suggested by my VoIP provider tech support to disable/enable the call waiting settings in the OBi and restart it. Let's see how that goes...

@Doc_Glenn

Not an answer to your question but is there a reason why you have calls in to your GV number going to Vestalink and then your Obi rather than directly to your Obi?
