My Pulse Rotary phone cannot dial out. PLEASE HELP
(1/1)
Vinhvinny:
I have a few very cool old rotary phones.
They are all pulse dialing phones. I bought an Obi using GV trying to bring them back to life. However, they can only receive call, they can't dial out.
When I dial the numbers, the I hear the pulse, then the dial tone still come back and after a few numbers the busy tone appears.
I know for sure the phones are not broken, the last time used they work.
Is there adaptor or any thing I can buy to make them work with obi?
azrobert:
I found this with a Google search.
I don't know if this will work with an OBi, so buy at your own risk.

drgeoff:
Just confirming that there is no configuration setting on OBi ATAs which makes them recognise digits from loop disconnect dialling. An external converter is the only option.

I played around with a rotory phone from the 60's. I had to up the ring voltage to get the bells to work. If you hook up multiple rotory phones, the Obi may not be able to ring them all.
