Backing Off (0s): Authentication Error

I finally decided to go to OAUTH 2.0 authentication for Google Voice and ditch my CallCentric account since I don't really use any of the CallCentric features. I'vefollowed (in detail) the setup instructions found on elsewhere on the forum. However, Google Voice connection status shows "Backing Off (0s): Authentication error".

I know it isn't a username/password issue considering I am using OAUTH to authenticate and OAUTH successfully authenticates to the ObiTalk web portal. I've done a factory reset and started from scratch with the setup, without success. I can also successfully log in to other services using OAUTH.

There is very little debugging info available and I have opened a support case with Obi, but they have been unresponsive.

Hi:

You said that you followed instructions elsewhere on the forum.  Were they my instructions:

http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460

If not, I suggest going through mine, step by step, and watch for any step that fails.

Also, more information, please:  what model OBi are you using, and what firmware level is it running?  Is this on a plain vanilla home network (cable or DSL), or satellite broadband, or at an office/corporate environment?  Do you have any unusual firewall set up?  Are you using a regular nanoo@gmail.com account, or is it a Google Apps domain, or a non-Google email address?

I am having the same issue.

Model: OBI202
Version: 3.0.1 (Build: 4550)

My Obi is connected to my home router through the WAN port on the Obi. My home network is residential cable. I have a phone connected to port 1. No unusual firewall settings. I am using and xxxx@icloud.com account that is registered with google voice and i have confirmed i have a number assigned to my google voice account. All my attempts to login to google voice through the obitalk.com site have been successful and still receiving authentication errors.

If you don't already have one, create a Gmail account (someone@gmail.com).

Follow this procedure to transfer your GV phone number to the Gmail account.  Note:  you cannot transfer a GV number into an account that already has one.

Now, follow the instructions in the link in my previous post to set up your OBi while logged into the Gmail account.

It is because Google blocks sign-in attempts from apps which do not use modern security standards (mentioned on their support page). You can however, turn on/off this safety feature by going to the link below:

Go to this link and select Turn On

https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

Moreover google block an ip when you try to send a email since a unusual location, so, you can unblock in the next link

and clicked in

accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha .

This has nothing whatsoever to do with the original question, nor is it a good solution.
