Open CNAME and Google Voice Setup on OBI202?
tpir72:
Hi,
Since OBI has partnered with Google to use Google Voice on their devices, I have switched back to Google Voice. I just signed up for an Open CNAME account: https://www.opencnam.com
How can I configure the OBI202 to use Open CNAME for caller ID?
Regards,
Terry

I hope you find out how to make this work. They have a hobbyist level that is free and customer service indicated to me that Obi users have used their service, but at that point it's pretty much over my head to figure out how.

I doubt it is possible to use Open CNAME with nothing more than an OBi ATA but happy to be proved wrong.
A Raspberry Pi or Pogoplug running Raspbx or similar might be the leanest solution. See https://www.opencnam.com/docs/v2/pbx
One part of the site says the Hobbyist plan is limited to 10 lookups per hour. Elsewhere it says 60.

The only way I know is using a PBX.
This is how I got it to work:

Superfecta in Asterisk can use OPENCNAM.
Raspbx is very easy to install on a Raspberry Pi.

incrediblePBX also runs nicely on a RaspberryPi. I have that working with 2 GV lines and a Vitelity line.
using SuperFecta
