Open CNAME and Google Voice Setup on OBI202?

I wish Obi would support them. I used the service with Sipsorcery and a PAP2NA at one point.  We can always request Open CNAM  support.  No harm in trying.

This topic inspired me and I did some experimenting.  I had hoped that when $Status.PhonePort.1.Call.CallState changed from Idle to Ringing I could grab the contents of $VoiceService.1.X_FXS.1.CallingFeatures.LastCallerNumber and I can do that.

The problem is that I have no way to send the information to https://api.opencnam.com/v2/phone/+ until the caller hangs up.  I didn't even bother to tackle the problem of returning the results or passing them to CNAM on the Obi.  I don't see any way to get this done without a second device in the middle as was mentioned above.

I wish Google would support Caller ID in Google Voice. You would think that the additional data would be useful to Google as a company.

There really isn't a place to request this with Google..... Is there???

Since Obi is officially supported by Google, maybe Obi could have that request/conversation with them about Caller ID...

Regards,

Terry

It would appear that the time to suggest new features for Google Voice is gone.  The old form to suggest a feature is dead and I cannot find a new link.  Perhaps you could use the suggest a feature for Hangouts link.

Hangouts is allegedly merging with Voice.

IMHO the chance of CNAM being implemented is extremely low.

SteveInWA:
CNAM isn't going to be implemented on Google Voice.  With the increasing proliferation of non-POTS phone numbers (mobile and VoIP), the CNAM databases are no longer sufficiently useful as a source of caller names.  Many mobile and VoIP carriers simply don't feed their customers' names to the DB providers.  In addition, carriers have to pay to both feed their customers' names into the DBs and to "dip" or look up the names.  Since GV is a <mostly> free service, CNAM would add extra cost for something that is of limited value.

This is unrelated to any Hangouts/GV integration plans.
