I am new to SIP services and don't have a DID service yet, so I have a lot to learn.

I tried dialing an outbound 1-855 number and GV refused to complete the call.
I used my traditional phone service and it connected right away. Hmmm...

Is this typical of GV outbound 800 number calls?
I am in Canada, so did that affect it?

Any recommendations for Canadian SIP/DID service beyond the recommended list from Obihai?
(Flowroute should be added to that list.)

Some tollfree numbers will not work with GV.
You can setup SP2 with a free tollfree service.
In the future, if you need SP2 for a provider this service can be moved to a Voice Gateway.
AuthUserName will be used as the outbound CallerID.
Dial 18005551212 to route tollfree numbers to SP2.
Dial 800555121 to route tollfree numbers to GV.
Use OBi Expert to make the following configuration changes:

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile A  General -> DigitMap:
(1xxxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|011xx.|xx.)

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile B  General -> DigitMap:
(18(00|88|77|66|55|44)xxxxxxx)

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile B  SIP -> ProxyServer : tf.callwithus.com

Voice Services -> SP2 Service -> AuthUserName : 4805551212
Voice Services -> SP2 Service -> X_RegisterEnable : (unchecked)
Voice Services -> SP2 Service -> X_ServProvProfile : B

Physical Interfaces -> Phone Port
Add this to the beginning of the OutboundCallRoute:
{(Msp2):sp2},

I use our company 1855 bridge number on daily basis - and I'm in Canada too. So it's not a generic statement that 1800 don't work with GV, but it's simply that some companies check the CallerID and localize you based on it, allowing or disallowing the toll-free call.
I have set 2 Gateways in my Obi for proxy.ideasip.com and sip.tollfreegateway.com and at least the first one works 99% of the time with Canadian toll-free numbers.
I did find the odd one (PC Plus as an example - 1-855-6PC-PLUS (672-7587)) that absolutely didn't work with any of my solutions except Anveo (who does not offer free calls to toll-free.

PC-PLUS works using free tollfree service tf.arctele.com

Edit:
It also works with tf.callwithus.com

Yes, it was some sort of charity service, so I guess they wanted to know who was calling.

I just got the Ohihai box, so I have no experience configuring other services.
I will have to roll up my sleeves.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip about Arctelecom, will have to give them a try.  :)

In case one wonders what alternatives are out there:

BTW: I couldn't get a Speed Dial like
77=SP2(1855xxxxxxxx@tf.callwithus.com) to work, while
77=SP2(855xxxxxxx@voiper.ipkall.com) does ( IPKall requires the country prefix removed, but that's not the issue here).

Arctelecom doesn't work either in the Speed Dial mode...but both work as a GV. Any suggestion what's going on?

Little help here? I'd really like to be able to make arctele.com to work through a Speed Dial. Thanks

This works for me:
sp2(18662069832@tf.arctele.com)

You can try the above number. It's Cox Communications, my ISP.

How does the call fail?
Look at the call history.
Does it connect, but no audio?

Edit:
If you have a VG setup with Arctele, code the speed dial like this:
vg1(18662069832)

Sorry azrobert, missed your reply completely...I ended up setting arctele.com as a VG.
I never got it to work as a Speed Dial entry ex 55=SP2(185512345672@tf.arctele.com)- error 2EH -  but now 55=**618551234567 works.
Weird, I AM missing something.
