Number Porting headache after the GV support end. Need Advice!!

??? At a loss here. Getting the Obi was a great deal and using with GV for free was even better and the quality was excellent. So much for a year's worth of satisfaction.
When Google announced support was ending, I ported my home phone number from Google to Anveo. Getting it to Google from ATT landline was a convoluted process: purchase a GoPhone and transfer from landline, then transfer from GoPhone to Google. Anveo was a recommended vendor from Obi so I ported from Google to them. No problem, just pay another $20 and done. I have been with Anveo for about a year.
I am not satisfied with Anveo and, I now read Google is now supporting the protocol. Great news, but when I check, Google says it cannot port from a VOIP service. Argh!
Is there a place I can port to and just park my number or do I have to keep going with this switching nonsense? If Google will be supporting this for the foreseeable future, any ideas how to get my home phone number back into Google?

I'm sure you will get more thorough advice, but you could try to see if you can port to RingTo for a free service and set up a combo of RingTo and Google Voice. I think you can often times port into RingTo.

Why are you not satisfied with Anveo?
If you are finding Anveo a bit too complicated, you might consider VoIP.ms before going back to Google Voice. Google Voice is limited in comparison to a real ITSP. Porting to VoIP.ms is free and their service is feature rich like your OBi202. CallCentric is another reputable option.
I use an OBi202 with VoIP.ms as noted in my notes. One account provides service to 3 households (2 with 911 enabled DIDs) plus mobile Android wifi softphones.

I am afraid that at least for now you have to go back and do another porting dance, just like you did originally. If you still have the go-phone, go pick up a prepaid sim from one of the usual places, and start the porting dance (from anveo to mobile to google). There are other posts on the forum where this is well documented if it has been some time since you last did it (and those brain cells have atrophied due to lack of exercise). It seems possible that as Google moves slowly into being a real mobile phone company (Project Fi) things might change and be easier, but for now, only those with an invite (and a Google Nexus 6) can play there in that sandbox.

I looked into Anveo when I left GV but VOIP.ms has been great. Feature rich website capability servers to register all over North America and in Europe no porting charge and low per minute & DID charges. With Voip.ms E911 is optional put it on the lines that you want. Anveo E911 was a requirement to set up a line ergo more monthly cost I only needed E911 on line 1 of my four lines.
