VOIP service or not?

ok, that answered a lot of what I wanted to know. thanks. From what you said, I will take it that any problems with calls connecting, or charges, are mainly business type of lines.

As for the plans, I dont mind paying the little extra to make sure that I dont run over/out. an extra $25 a year is not much to have unlimited minutes though PP, and to be honest, we use more then the 300 outgoing minutes that are there. We have 3 people in the house, plus others that come over to visit, that use the phone from time to time. While we dont use the phone a lot, 300 minutes = 5 hours, which is less then 2 hours of use per person per month. Heck, call a business up just once and you can easily use a half hours worth of minutes right there. plus, I know a few people that I talk to that are out of town, family and friends, so talking on the phone is the only way to catch up with them. But in the grand scheme of things, even at $60 a year, that is still way under the $200+ that I am paying now though PP. Looking at it that way, I really have no complaints spending the $60. I just dont like the fact that I am paying about that, right now, just for taxes.

Thanks for all the info

FWIW, I just did the "early media" test with GV to 631-265-0000 & it keeps ringing.
I dialed the same # with RingTo and I hear the message.
Interesting.

Great to give out to telemarketers and insane people who insist on having your number.

I prefer Screaming Monkeys: 360-515-4462

Or if you can send them to a SIP URI address (which an OBi can easily do) here are a couple more:

Screaming Monkeys II: *850**12345@ekiga.net

The perennial favorite "Lenny" who is always more than happy to talk to telemarketers: lenny@pbxinaflash.com
