If I recall, windows fax still requires an actual fax machine or a fax server of some sort.

Please clarify how you wish to fax?

You need a fax modem installed on your computer. Connect the modem to a phone port on your OBi202 with a standard phone cord.

What's a modem :)

Are they even still available... I have a box in the basement with a bunch of usr sportster isa modems.  Probably have a few pci models someplace too.  Don't think any of the current desktops in the household even have a pci slot anymore either.

We have a dedicated fax machine hooked up to the lan.  With the included driver can fax directly through windows to the fax - no need to print first.  Can fax successfully via obi/gv at full 33.6kbps with ecm enabled using G711u, but results will vary depending on fax machine and internet service quality.  Many have to slow down faxes to work with voip.  I don't think gv supports T.38.

I have people using HP all-in-one fax/printers.

You can go into the printer/fax app they provide and fax a document from your computer, through the connection (USB or LAN) to the machine that then faxes out.

At home I do the same but use an OBI202 (2nd line with Google Voice to fax out).
