Title: Problems with ObiTalk latest firmware
Post by: Sam61n2 on July 06, 2018, 10:00:56 PM
My OBi200 with Google voice and 3 Australian VSP's stopped working except for incoming GVoice. No dial tone, or indication it could detect phone off hook. All VSP's and Gvoice show as connected. Had to downgrade firmware update, and disable ObiTalk Auto Provisioning to get device to work again. Is this issue specific to OBi's outside N.America, or is this happening elsewhere as well?

A powered OBi should always give dial tone.  It doesn't need configuration to do that.  It doesn't even need a network connection to give dial tone.

No dial tone usually means a hardware failure, usually of the phone cord or phone itself but sometimes the OBi's phone port circuitry.  Check the cord and phone by substitution or by plugging them into a known working PSTN/POTS socket.
If they prove OK, log in to the on-board management interface (not the OBitalk portal). click on Status and then on Phone Status.  What, if any, numbers do you see for the voltage readings?

On all my 4 OBi200's with GoogleVoice

3.2.2 (Build: 5859EX) - Works fine, no audio issues. :)
3.2.2 (Build: 5897EX) - Does not work - I do not get dial tone. ???
3.2.2 (Build: 5898EX) - Does not work - I do not get dial tone. ???

I reverted back to 3.2.2 (Build: 5859EX) but they keep updating it back to 3.2.2 (Build: 5898EX)

not sure why obihai/polycom auto deploys untested firmware and causes us pain.
even with new acquisition the trend has not changed.  :'(

You do not need to post the same thing in multiple places; it just spawns redundant effort by others trying to help users.

I don't think it was hardware failure, as reverting to the 3.2.2 5859ex firmware as it returned my OBi200 to working fine again. I did try factory resetting up via OBiTalk, and it worked fine with latest firmware, till I put in my original dial plan and Call and Ring detection for Australia, when once again it failed to have dial tone, or detect lifting the phone off hook. Reverting once again to 3.2.2 5859ex fixed it again, I will leave it there for now, thanks.

I also don't think it's a harcode failure. Is your problem solved?
