Title: Connects with GV but no audio
Post by: DRJD on December 07, 2020, 11:33:20 AM
I've tried resetting everything (OBI200) and GV account but with no luck.  I'm able to connect on phone calls both ways but there's no audio.  It worked for a few days but I haven't had any success getting this to work for the last month.  When I make a call, it shows active and connected but I don't think any packets are being passed and NO CODEC assigned.  I have the same issue whether using connect via a phone or the GV webpage. Sometimes when I do the echo test, nothing happens; other times, I get "no service available".  Please advise.  Thank you!

The echo test (**9 222 222 222) is an entirely separate thing from GV.  If the echo test does not work you should concentrate on fixing that before GV.

"There is no service ..." on the echo test means that your OBi is not reaching the public internet.

Fixed by getting transparent bridging configured properly. Thanks!

I have the same issue. Started within the last 24 hours. I can dial and rcv calls, but when answered there is no audio either way.

What is "transparent bridging"?

What is echo test? When I dial that number is get a busy tone.

Additionally, when I click on SP Service Stats or PHONE Status on my OBiTALK Dashboard it gives me this error message "Cannot retrieve requested information from the device now. Please try again later."

I have changed nothing on the OBi or my router recently.

The echo test is a call to an Obihai server using the Obitalk network that is preconfigured in your OBi device's firmware.  It auto-answers with a voice recording of a man saying "Welcome to Obitalk and ...".  When he finishes it loops the audio so that whatever you say comes back to you.  Gives you a check that incoming and outgoing audio are working.

Sounds like your OBi is not reaching the public internet.  First test is to check that it can reach your router.  Dial ***1 and report back here what is spoken to you.

Ingeneral SIP VoIP and one way audio:

in the following order:

1) Make sure you have ONLY ONE router between your Obi and the Public Internet IP. If your odem has an integrated router , connect the Obi directly to the modem!

2) Set router security to minumum and disable SIP ALG in router. Reboot router and Obi

3) change local SIP port on Obi Reboot router and Obi
