Title: Callcentric, OBI110 and SRV servers, can not get it to work!
Post by: taxboy on October 27, 2012, 09:22:36 PM
If anyone can verify that that have their OBI110 or obi100 working with the new outbound Proxy SRV setting for callcentric then please let me know.

I thought everything was working ok but what is happening is my device intermittently reboots.  I did not know this until I downloaded and ran the Obi syslogd program and let it run.  After about 10 to 20 minutes it reboots.

Tried everything, DNS numbers, redundancy checked, not checked, ect.

DNS settings that callcentric recommends in the OBI, in the router, still reboots use SRV.

Once I put OutboundProxy to callcentric.com and remove the srv works and no reboots.

Really liked to get SRV working in the OBI if possible.  Really strange actually makes the device reboot when I use SRV.  It if drops registration than that is one thing but the device actually resets itself.

Since they are under attack I believe the SRV is suppose to be not affected so i would like to move the OBI over to that if possible.
Otherwise have figure out this VOIP.MS forward URI thingy.

Thanks for any help!
:)

I think I found the answer in another thread:
http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=4399.0

It looks like the OBi has issue with the SRV.  I will have to go back to the callcentric.com outbound proxy server to keep the unit from resetting.  Very strange.

I figure out a way to forward my calls to another VOIP.

If OBI could come up with a firmware update so it does not reboot that would be great / cool and awesome!

That might be a while so I need another ATA or another VOIP provider....

This sounds like a marketing opportunity for obihai. CC must have a considerable user base that could potentially buy an OBi if it saved them the trouble of porting their CC numbers to another service provider.

I know they are working on it.

My 4 OBI202's have been stable, but not with callcentrics settings.
Here are OBI's recomended settings for my OBI's.

WAN Settings:

DNSServer1 = 216.231.41.2  (one of Callcentrics recomended DNS)

ITSP Profile SIP:

ProxyServer = srv.callcentric.com
RegistrarServer = leave blank
UserAgentDomain = leave blank
OutboundProxy = leave blank

X_ProxyServerRedundancy = unchecked
X_DnsSrvAutoPrefix = checked

SPx Service:

X_KeepAliveEnable = enabled
X_KeepAliveExpires = 120

I hope this works for you, it works for the firmware I have installed on my OBI202's

Where exactly did you see or hear these are Obi settings for CC?

Right from an OBI engineer. They are very aware of the issues and are working on releasing a firmware update. They are beta testing it now. I was not told when they would be releasing it to the public. I'm sure as soon as possible they will

after all, there seems to be some light at the end of the reboot tunnel.... if what you say is true, we may get a new f/w...

I just set up CC on my 202 again using the posted configuration. It is now in an endless reboot loop. Can't communicate with it from Obitalk or the web. No choice except to stop it and reset it.

obitalk never showed CC as registered.

remove the internet from device
reset the device
enabled web access and verified the reset
went to Obitalk expert and removed the changes I made for CC
reconnected my device to the internet
dial **9222222222 to verify communication

I never shows as online at Obitalk
I assume if it should communicate and show as online, and Obitalk would push my expert configuration to the device.

I took a chance and tried it also. Been up for three hours so far. Did you uncheck the NoRegNoCall field, note that it's not listed in the above, I take that to mean not checked.

I guess we all know getting the Obi to run without rebooting in one thing, having clear calls through CC is the next step.

the NoRegNoCall is unchekced by default. Since I have to reset my device every time I attempt to reconfigure CC it was unchecked.

Not only do I have to reset it, I have to delete it from my account and add it back in order to get Obitalk to communicate with it.

Please report back on if/how you solved your reboot issue.

On an unrelated point, note that they are using only one of the DNS servers CC lists, and it's the second one in the CC list. I'll guess it's that way for a reason, but I skipped right over that and put in the two servers CC lists. No rebooting for almost four hours so far.

OK, got my device set back up. I will wait some more before I try CC again.

I hear yuh. My device was up for 11 some hours and I decided to try an incoming call to one of the CC numbers. The call was clear enough, but after I hung up I noticed the lights on the Obi202 acting odd, and then the device rebooted.

I just don't trust my Obi202 with CC at all anymore, and actually using it to receive a call is like walking on eggshells, it's gonna break somewhere.

The second server in CC list will not likely work if you have X_DnsSrvAutoPrefix checked.

Returns zero addresses

Also, in answer to jimates; I wasn't sure if you reset your box to factory defaults or not  but as far as I can tell, anytime you reset it to defaults you must re-register the unit on Obitalk using the **5 thing and start completely over. That is one of the reasons I have stayed away from using the portal so far. I have an Obi 100 in India that I use it with but the configuration is very plain vanilla.

So exactly is causing the reboot?

I would like to understand the issue. I have been using the srv setting recommended by CC since the beginning of the attack and according to the UpTime reported by the obi portal, it's been running for over more than 20 days.... Why is my obi working or is there a hidden issue that I am not aware of?

callcentric is down (this time sandy caused it)...

from their twitter feed -

"
Due to hurricane Sandy, power to downtown NYC has been cut. The services have been shutdown to prevent any adverse effects to data.
"

"
Systems will be restored as soon as power to downtown Manhattan has returned. More information as soon as it is available.

It would be really nice if Callcentric started using e-mail notification instead of that Twitter bs.
Wonder whether they are on a suicide mission >:(

My Obi was working for over 20 days with the CC SRV settings without issue. Then CC went down because of the storm, now CC is back in service and my obi is rebooting every 2-3 minutes!

Don't know why it was working before or why it isn't working now. But it's my turn to get the new firmware.

Try setting Service Providers -> ITSP Profile -> SIP -> Registration Period to 100. It looks like Callcentric's registration timers are all over the place. Not sure if it could be related to the servers being powered down or not.
