Is there some way I can prevent Obitalk from regularly trying to resolve/contact assoc-amazon.com ?

It's insulting enough that I have to see ads while using a configuration portal, but then, I have to wait 20-30 seconds each time I move to certain pages. This is a waste of time.

I tried an ad blocker, it didn't change anything.

If ad blocking at my router doesn't work, why would that work?

Shplad

I already have ad blocking at my router. That's not helping.

Is your ad blocker generically blocking entries or do you specifically have assoc-amazon.com in there?

On my pages on the left I see ads from "amazon.com" and most ad blockers would not block amazon. I do know that there are links somewhere for assoc-amazon because I see the domain in Google but I have not specifically seen them on my configuration pages.
My websites: Kona Coffee: http://itskona.com and Web Hosting: http://planetaloha.info<br />A simplified Voip explanation: http://voip.planet-aloha.com

It downloads several blacklists to use, but I also have a custom blacklists field.

I have assoc-amazon.com in the blacklist field, but it seems to make no difference.  :(

Just a thought...if 50 people from here, next time the happend to talk with Poly, complained about the assoc-amazon.com DNS resolution, maybe Poly might remove it.

I find it particularly offensive to wait, and have to watch advertising in what's supposed to be a control portal.

Big deal.   The website displays OBiTALK products for sale, with affiliate links to Amazon.  What you are seeing is completely harmless and completely normal.  Nobody is spying on you or invading your privacy.  And no, it doesn't impact page loading time, unless you are using a Pentium processor from a decade ago with 1GB of RAM.

Find something else more important to worry about.

Shplad

Umm..yes it does.

It takes about 40 seconds each time I click on a different page in the Obiexpert menus.
If you enjoy waitin for that, fine. But don't tell me it has no effect.

Also, "no big deal" is subjective.

There is some browser extension or other piece of software or setting on your computer that is causing that.  There is absolutely, positively no delay whatsoever on the OBiTALK forum, nor any of the thousands of websites I've visited that contain Amazon Associate links.

You have likely blocked something that is causing a failure to connect to something, then retrying ad-nauseum until it times out.

Whatever it is, it has nothing to do with Poly or their products.

Assoc-amazon.com is now resolving instantly. I have no idea why. I haven't changed anything on my PC, but I'm happy I no longer have to wait.
