HKBN 2b promotion offer (HKD 28) was ceased.

If you want to make unlimited phone calls to Hong Kong or to receive unlimited phone calls from Hong Kong, you may consider to use the service from HKBN 2b (http://http://www.hkbn.net/2b/en/index_page.html) VoIP service at monthly promotional offer 28HKD (=4USD).

OBi1xx has been added feature specifically for HKBN 2b voip to ease the configuration. With the OBi1xx, you may a virtual Hong Kong telephone in all over the world. Your telephone were just like in Hong Kong such that you can make or receive unlimited phone calls with monthly subscription.

This is a very exciting promo, but I'm having trouble.  I would like to set this up for a friend that lives in US but has family in HK.

When I tried to connect to the site from here in Bangkok, I was redirected to a "overseas" page, where the best offer was HK$98/mo. on a 12 month contract.  Connecting through my VPN in US, same thing.

I managed to find a proxy server in HK and connect through that.  I now see the HK$28 promo, but there are several gotchas.  First, the terms say "Customers must hold a valid HKID, and be able to submit a HK registered address and HK mobile phone number in order to register for this service."  The first registration page indeed asks for HKID.  In itself, that's not a show stopper -- we could sign up in his sister's name.

However, the promo appear to be limited to the "2b app" for iPhone or Android.  There is no mention of softphones or VoIP devices.  I don't want to go to a lot of trouble to get signed up, only to learn that I don't have SIP credentials, or that this service would reject calls from an OBi or other VoIP device.  Does the user ID and password for the 2b app also work in the OBi?  Or, is there some other way to get SIP credentials?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I did not realised that you need a Hong Kong IP to access the correct promotional offer website.

But I have a friend who lives in Mainland China and uses this 28HKD plan. Since her family can apply the plan for her and let her know the login (SIP) credentials.

The purpose of mobile phone is used to receive the SIP credentials from the HKBN 2b.

Once my friend received the SIP credentials, she just putted those parameters on her OBi1xx box, iPhone and Android phone. All of them work in Mainland China properly without any problem encountered.

I follow the information posted on http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=886.0
and cannot make it work, any other suggestion?

I cannot find where is

4) SIP -> X_ProxyRequire: com.nortelnetworks.firewall

Thanks,

Stewart

4) SIP -> X_ProxyRequire: com.nortelnetworks.firewall
Service Providers->ITSP Profile A (or B, as appropriate)->SIP

That is the same screen where you entered ProxyServer and OutboundProxy; X_ProxyRequire is near the bottom (you may have to scroll to see it).

Hi guys,
Will HKBN 2B provide a local hong kong number as well to use with the SIP? To me this is only interesting if I would get a local HK number. Thanks.

yhfung

HKBN 2b gives a HK telephone number (DID) such that the Hong Kong people could call you with it. You may make and receive phone calls as you were in Hong Kong.

The answer is yes. It has been tested since the firmware has been modified based on HKBN 2b network.
