We are using GV as our phone service, and we know that Google doesn't use the database  for looking up and passing inbound caller ids. We are looking at alternatives which do provide inbound caller id. We would prefer keeping GV because we like the voice message transcription provided. However are open to very low cost reliable service the provide quality service.

I would prefer not to make a conversation about what Google doesn't provide. Rather a "How-To" get the most; reliable service, usable features, and the lowest cost.

I'm a US user, but don't want to exclude others from the discussion. There are also many similar Obitalk forum posts, but most do not specifically address total features as an add on to GV or as an alternative. Or they are outdated.

Take a look at these options:

https://simonics.com/gw/
https://www.gvsip.com/

You do not configure GV on your OBi.  You configure SIP on your OBi and GV/XMPP on one of these go-between services.  GV sends CallerID number; these services perform CNAM, CallerID name lookup.

I have not tried these options, so you'll have to investigate them.
