obi200 and comcast incompatible?

I successfully configured an OBi200 in a home network with DSL connection.
I was able to make OBi to OBi call, and I was able to make/receive regular calls.

However, the same OBi200 device would not work in a home
network with Comcast Xfinity service.  I do not have Comcast phone
service, only their broadband connection.

**5 xxxx says "Sent to the server" but the "Add Device" page times out.
**9 222 222 222 (Echo test) says "There is no service ... "

I've checked the SMC router: no ports blocked.
I've tried putting the OBi200 in the DMZ as well: no difference.

System Status -> SP1 Service Status says: "Resolving DNS"
System Status -> OBiTALK Service Status says: "   Acquiring Service (0);ex-addr=10.1.10.17:10073(10073)"

10.1.10.17 is indeed the OBi200's IP address at the moment.

CurrentLocalTime is way off (year 2010), but there doesn't seem to be
a way to change/set date/time at all .. the date/time field does not
appear to be editable.

HardwareVersion is 1.4
SoftwareVersion is 3.1.0 (build: 5264).
For giggles, I tried updating firmware from
    http://fw.obihai.com/OBi2-latest.fw
but it says something to the effect of I've already got that version.

What should I fix .. what else should I look for?

Hi Mr. Frustrated:  sorry you're having a Craptastic experience, but Comcast Xfinity internet service is compatible with OBi devices.  You've likely got some sort of router issue.

First, try changing your router's DNS servers to these two (primary and secondary):

8.8.8.8 and
8.8.4.4

Unplug the OBi.  Power-cycle your router, wait for it to come back, confirm that your internet service is working (do some web browsing), and then power on the OBi and wait for it to reboot.  Check its status again.  If it's able to get on the internet, its internal time should be updated automatically via NTP, and the echo test should work.

Greetings Steve,
Thank you for your prompt response.

The strangest thing ... I left the Obi200 box connected overnight with nary a change,
not even the reboot dance ... and the darn thing started working.
I was able to dial obi-to-obi, perform echo test, and my Google Voice works like a charm
(none of these worked hitherto)

Funny thing is ... from the web interface, I see that
  WAN Status --> IPAddress
the Obi200 has my internal non-routable RFC1918 IP address
(which matches what is given when I dial ***1 )

however, under "OBiTALK Service Status", the status says:
   Normal (User Mode) (28);ex-addr=a.b.c.d:10000(10000)

where a.b.c.d is the external-facing IP address of my Comcast router

Is this normal ?   Should I be concerned about this?

Perhaps your OBi and your router just didn't work through the DHCP lease until later.

Yes, it is normal to see those IP addresses on the status page.  The OBiTALK network information says "ex-addr=", meaning that is the external address open on port 10000 to receive calls from other OBiTALK-connected devices.
