The point that has been made, over and over, is that these are inexpensive consumer electronics widgets. They have a lifecycle of a few years, before the company introduces new models. All companies do this. Few support their products past the warranty time, and most stop providing firmware updates after the second year or so.
This should not be an important deciding factor when buying a current OBi ATA.
