Locked Obi1032 - Is there any way to get GV on it?

Hi there, I purchased an Obi1032 and found out later that it is locked to phonepower. I was able to reset to factory defaults and upgrade the firmware to the latest version. I was not able to add the device to ObiTalk since the device is locked, but I can still access the device admin page directly.

Is there anyway I can configure GV on this device?

Thanks in advance!

You can use Simon Telephonics GV Gateway.

What happens when you try to add the 1032 to OBiTalk? Maybe the previous owner didn't delete the device from OBiTalk before selling it. If this is the situation, open a support ticket at OBiHai and maybe they will remove it.

This device is likely registered to an OBiTALK DMP account owned by phonepower. If it is, you cannot register it to any other OBiTalk account. For the record, OBIHAI will not remove it from any OBiTALK DMP account. Your best bet is to ask phonepower to remove it.

Take note: If it is registered to a OBiTALK DMP account, while you can currently update it's firmware and configure it locally, phonepower still has access to it and can lock it down at any time!

Thanks, I guess that only works for incoming, but thats an interesting option.

Obihai support said they couldnt help. I dont think this is case of someone previously registering on ObiTalk.

From Simon Telephonics:
Convert your Google Voice number to a standard SIP connection.
Place and receive Google Voice calls with your VoIP ATA or IP phone, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or any SIP PBX.

Oh... the gateway page threw me off then.

"The Google Voice Gateway connects your Google Voice number to any SIP device or URI (incoming calls only)."

Another option is to run a Yate Server. It's a much easier install than Asterisk. It downloads and installs in 1-2 minutes then you need to modify about 6 config files. I've only used Yate on a Windows machine and can help you with the configuration.

For an OBi unit that is locked to a VoIP Service Provider, such as yours, there is no way that you or Phonepower support team can unlock it.  Best option is to return your OBi1032 to where you bought it from for a full refund.  Then go get a new OBi1032 at Amazon.com and make sure it's "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com".  This will allow you to add Google Voice service (and/or Phonepower service if you want).
