submitting posts error? gmail???

Just tried to submit a post in the general use forum.  Clicked Post and got this:

Ran into problems sending Mail. Error: 535 5.7.8 https://support.google.com/mail/?p=BadCredentials e12sm4812199pgk.9 - gsmtp

What the heck?  I do use gmail, but posting a message shouldn't have anything to do with that, should it?

This did get posted without problem.
Tried simple post in the Day to Day use forum, same error!

I received the same error just now while posting.  The system must use gmail to send the notifications.
