I have an OBI200 box which works fine when I connect a single phone directly to it. But if I connect it to my home wiring, and plug the same phone on an outlet (just that one phone), the OBI200 no longer works. In either situation, after plugging the wiring into the box, the green light flashes for 10-15 seconds, then it turns off. With the direct connection to the phone, when I lift the handset I get the regular dial tone. But if I connect it via the house wiring, I no longer hear anything when I lift the handset, and the green light flashes again.
I have tried to make sure that nothing else is connected to the home wiring. Being that the case, the only difference would be the length of the wiring, which may be substantial (it's a large house). I am wondering if the extra resistance or impedance could be causing the malfunction, or if I should be looking for some other problem.
Thank you for any help! I hope that the OBI staff is watching this channel.
