Can the OBiWiFi Adapter connected to an OBi202 be configured as a wireless access point for a laptop connection if the OBi202 WAN connection is provided through the ethernet port?

N2VWZ,

Try setting up the wireless and the laptop nic in bridge mode.

I haven't bought the Obihai hardware yet, so I can't do any testing.  I want to have confidence that the equipment will do the job before purchasing.

My WAN source is a Ubiquiti Bullet radio transceiver connected to a distant access point through a 20dbi parabolic antenna. The Ubiquiti Wifi setting is configured to station mode and networking is configured to bridge mode.  The Ubiquiti ethernet output will connect to the Obi202 via ethernet cable to the Internet port.  One telephone will be connected to the OBi202.

The question here is if I add the OBiWiFi USB adapter to the OBi202, can the adapter be configured as an access point to provide a wireless connection to the laptop? i.e. I want to use the OBi202 as a wireless router with a phone connection.  If the OBi202 were configured to bridge mode, I would want the OBiWiFi to act as an Access Point Repeater or Extender.

The laptop is configured as a client to connect to a wireless router or a WiFi access point.

I haven't found any documentation detailing the configuration settings (and screen shots) for the OBiWiFi adapter.  Does this documentation exist?

pc44 has some experience with what you are asking. Here are some threads which might be helpful.

N2VWZ,

The OBiWiFi adapter was designed to attach the OBi to the internet as a wireless client using DHCP or a static ip address. There is no provision to act as an access point.

As pc44 said in the referenced thread posted by QBZappy, you can attach a wireless router to the OBi202 router's LAN port.  I just checked it out with my laptop and it works fine.
