Do I really have to reboot whenever I change any settings?

It seems whatever setting I change I am then prompted to reboot after I press "Submit". It just doesn't make sense.

So I tried adding a new speed dial and using it without reboot and it worked.

What's the deal? Can I just safely ignore prompts to reboot?

I don't know why the settings took, but you must always reboot the device after any changes.

A journeyman electrician sent his apprentice with a 5-gallon bucket and was told to put the ends of the service drop in the bucket and fill it with volts. He was there all day.

There was a note in one of the older software updates that stated that changes in the speed dial numbers would not require a reboot when the change was made using the telephone keypad. Following this line of thinking, it may not be required when making the change from the web screens either. They may have opted to not rework the web screen to remove the reboot message, however most changes do require a reboot so it is best to go ahead and do it since it only takes a few seconds simply to avoid any problem later.
