I would like to be able to make calls from my home phone connected to the obi110 connected to GV and have the recipient of that call see a caller ID other than the GV number.  Specifically, I would like it to show my cell phone number.

Is there anyway to "spoof" the caller ID like that?  I am aware that you can link a Sprint number, but I would like not to have to be with Sprint for this to work.

Gobluelou,

Google Voice does not allow for Spoofing.

You can use a Sip provider, who allows spoofing.  I think that CallCentric allows it, but then you would have to sighn up for thier service, for a fee.

Search the Fourm for Spoofing, and you will find all kinds of discussion on it.

Or instead, can we have my name displayed instead of GV number when I call someone?

currently there is no way to associate a name with a google voice number. And there is no way to replace the number with anything.

As this poster mentioned, these are the drawebacks to the GoogleVoice service. You get a free numbera nd free in and outbound calls and free voicemail an transcriptions and so on, but you have no control over the identification of the outbound information.

Voip.Ms also allows outbound spoofing, but with these VOIP services, you would pay for outbound calls.

You could port your cell number (perhaps) to Google, but then you would need a new number for the cell phone, which you also cannot spoof. If you were not making man outbound calls and IF your cell number was at Google, you could call your Google number from your cell and let it make the call for you, using that number you ported to Google. That is not a clean solution either.
