I understand that one should not us WEP encryption for their wireless.  With that out of the way, is there any way for me to connect my Obi202 wirelessly with the Obiwifi without having to change the setting on the router?  Currently, the router is using WEP encryption.  I don't have access to it since it's a general router for the apartment building.

OBiSupport

OBiWiFi works with WEP.

You need to enter the actual password as generated by the router.

When your router generates four (4) passwords for WEP, be sure to use password #1 for the OBiWiFi.

Do not enter password using the paraphrase method.

Get http://www.obihai.com/OBiAdminGuide.htm and follow along. Here are some things you can do via the phone touchtone pad:

***0  38#  1#  (pause where I show the spaces)
QuoteEnable Web Management Access from WAN port

The current value will be read back.   (Effective in Router mode only)

0: Disable Access from WAN

1: Enable Access from WAN

***1
QuoteBasic Network Status

Your IP address and DHCP status will be read back to you.

Press 0 to repeat the information.

Write down the IP address.

You may be able to work right from WiFi. Does the OBi appear as an
access point that you can connect to? If not, get a network cable, and
hook your computer to the LAN port of the OBi202. Set things up.
Put the IP address into your browser, and see if you can get into
the OBi web interface.

There are other things you can do via the phone interface. Let us know where you get stuck. Maybe an OBi WiFi user will be by soon.

Obisupport, thank you for your reply.  As mentioned, I don't have access to the router.  Do you know what password #1 would be so that I can convert my current password to that password?

I read somewhere about the need of entering the code in HEX, but that didn't work for me.

Shale, thank you for your reply.  The Obiwifi is not able to obtain an IP address from the wireless router.  I could get to the Obi web interface but it wouldn't connect.

I brought the Obi202 and the Obiwifi to another location to test out the devices and they work fine with WAP2 encryption.  At this location, where I actually bought the Obi202 for, it just wouldn't work with the same setup.
-------------------------

Not sure if this will help, but the router is 2WIRE.

http://www.wepkey.com/ or http://www.wireshark.org/tools/wpa-psk.html look like one could solve your problem, if you have not given up yet.
