Emergency Numbers Changing All The Time

Recently my community notified residents (via emails and online newspaper stories) that non-emergency numbers were changing to one number.

They didn't say - "any non-911 number that you currently dial for emergencies is no longer an emergency number and is going to the one number".  Nor did they say "and any number that your alarm company may be calling may have changed".

I called 911 last week for motorcycles racing at very high speeds - and my OBi converts 911 to the 10 digit number.  I got a recording saying the number was changing, giving me the new "non-emergency" number, and then putting the call through.

Today, after communicating with the E911 coordinator in our County, I changed my OBi programming, tested it AND contacted my alarm company who knew nothing of the changes.  They have "special" numbers that they call, but all 3 of those had changed also.

Just a note to the wise...
